Our hope is that children of all ages will eventually be able to join Cyclekraft. Currently, we offer sessions for 3rd/4th Grade riders and 5th/6th Grade riders, allowing us to tailor our curriculum to each age group more specifically.
Please reach out if your child is not yet old enough for our currently available age groups. We would love to have a weekly session for 1st/2nd Grade riders soon!

Our bikes are designed for riders between 4’ 2” and 4’ 10” (typically ages 8-12).
If you think your child might not be able to ride the bike comfortably, please reach out through the Contact Page and we can set up a test ride before the program starts!
-
Riders should be comfortable on a bike. They should be able to pedal, balance, steer and brake without issue. Additionally, riders should be able to ride for 10 minutes at a time without needing to stop for a break.
We will not be going on overly challenging rides or doing mountain biking. However, we will encounter uneven surfaces, water on the path, inclines/declines, and other obstacles.
If you have any concern that your child might not yet be a strong enough rider for Cyclekraft, please reach out on our Contact Page

In short, no. We want to make sure that as many children as possible are able to join Cyclekraft.
With a range of cycling experience levels and backgrounds, riders will be engaged, and sometimes even challenged, by the routes they will bike. However, instructors will make sure that every rider feels capable and safe while on the trail.
-
We will be sure to ask every rider to take a trip to the bathroom at school before leaving for the trails.
But even on the trail: when you gotta go, you gotta go! That’s why instructors will be equipped with supplies to allow riders to have a private nature bathroom break if necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
We try to engage with nature in all weather conditions! There is so much to learn and observe during the wide range of environmental conditions we experience here in Los Angeles. If rain is in the forecast, we will contact families in advance to make sure your child has rain gear with them. Alternately, if we are expecting hot weather, we will be prepared with extra water, shady activities and a slower pace.
If weather ever becomes so extreme that going for a ride would be unsafe, we will make plans accordingly, either staying more local or doing an indoor activity instead.

Cyclekraft has a fleet of new, high-quality REI Rev 24 Mountain Bikes. These bikes are equipped with disc brakes, knobby trail tires and 1×7 gearing. Riders will also be provided a Giro Fixture Mips II Helmet.
If you would prefer your child to use their own helmet from home instead, just send it along with them on Cyclekraft days!

You can always contact us at the email found at the bottom of this page!
For day to day communications, once your child is enrolled you will receive a cell phone contact for the instructors.

We are a small operation that is putting every contribution we receive through enrollment into strengthening and improving the program.
Therefore, we cannot refund families for the remainder of a semester they do not wish to attend.
Cancellations made more than 14 days in advance of the day a semester starts are eligible for refund or credit for a following semester.
-
Accidents happen! Riders will be taught how to ride and take care of their bikes to avoid damage but if something breaks, that’s okay.
If repeated incidents occur or a rider is observed not treating their bike with respect, a conversation will take place with the rider and a parent to determine whether the club is a right fit for them.
Costs of repairing damaged bikes will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Cyclekraft will pick up your child when the bell rings. On return to school, we will drop off your child at the main gate of the school.
We offer a 10 minute grace period at pickup, so please make sure to arrive at your child’s school before our scheduled drop off time so you can meet us when we return.
